Sanctuary. It means something different to each of us. My love for nature allows me to typically find sanctuary quite easily. After moving so far from home and then bouncing around a bit within an area, I would have thought I was adept at finding them easily.
This time is different. I'm not in tune with my feelings, my intuition. Instead of exploring and finding a space in nature, I've sought comfort in what's easily accessible. The internet, TV, my couch. While getting sucked into that is convenient, it's not productive for me.
Some people find sanctuary in an action. Mine is walking, being surrounded by Mother Earth. Feeling the ground under my feet, the wind touch my skin, the sounds of the trees and critters.
Writing is also cathartic for me, it hasn't taken this shape often, but it makes sense. I process my world by words. What and how things are said. Tone of voice, and choice of specific words is very important for me.
Perspective is important when looking for your happy place. It doesn't have to be a "place" but could be a feeling you get when you do a certain thing. I know my Dad is happiest when he's in a garage, surrounded by music and tools.
So if you're struggling to find your place, instead look for your space.
Being on a horse farm also has restorative powers for me and thanks to a friend who pushed me a few weeks ago, I've found the perfect place for me.
Where do you go to find yourself?
